Apple Files Request for "iPad" Trademark

Apple Files Request for "iPad" Trademark

The rumored Apple Tablet has rumored specifications, operating system, user interface, design -- the whole enchilada. Except for one factor, the name. It's been given either "iGuide" or "iSlate" being recently popular. iPad has always been a possibility, but now it looks stronger.

Apple has reportedly filed a request for the "iPad" trademark. It already has that trademark in several other countries but in the United States there's a problem. Apparently, Fujitsu already partially has that trademark. They applied for it back in 2003 but never responded for further questioning, so it was made available again in 2009. After that, Futjitsu applied again but the trademark process still is complete. So Apple has submitted three different requests for this trademark.

This makes the "iPad" a strong possibility for the rumored Apple Tablet which is expected to be unveiled one week from today, January 27th at Apple's "Come see our new creation" event in San Francisco. My only issue is the name "iPad" is dangerously close to "iPod" which could confuse consumers, unless Apple was aiming for the tablet to be sort of like a large iPod Touch or iPhone.
