Europeans Choose Their Own Browser on Windows 7

Remember that whole controversy about Windows 7 E? It was going to be a special edition of Windows 7 for Europe in which Internet Explorer would no longer be the default web browser in Europe. Instead, users would choose their own web browser.

Well, now via Windows Update, Microsoft is finally rolling out that option to all of Windows 7 in Europe. Users get a screen with a list of five main browsers, and other browsers, in random order along with a small description. One they choose a default browser, a shortcut is made on the desktop.

Microsoft was fined many times for having users forcibly use Internet Explorer without their knowledge of other options. If only that browsing choosing screen were available in America...
