Well, the iPhone 3G is dead and it's all but official. This news comes about for two reasons. The first is the highly supported rumor that Apple has stopped shipping iPhone 3Gs to AT&T to be sold and can no longer be purchased at AT&T. The second is the fact that Walmart is now selling the iPhone 3GS 16GB for $99, previously $199 and still $199 when purchasing through Apple. The third is the most recent news that the iPhone 3G can no longer be purchased on apple.com. Apple still advertises the iPhone 3G with all of its specs and a price of $99, but on the Buy Now page for both iPhones, the iPhone 3G lacks a "Select" button. RIP iPhone 3G, my current iPhone (to be replaced by the 4th-gen this summer). You will not be forgotten.
