iOS 4 Speed Improvements for iPhone 3G Coming Soon

After taking a little break from email, it seems as though Steve Jobs is back with more small tidbits to say. This time it's about the painfully slow death all with an iPhone 3G were forced to go through if they decided to upgrade to iOS 4. If you don't know about it, watch the parody below. Though it's a bit exaggerated, I have to say I previously had an iPhone 3G running iOS 4 (before upgrading to iPhone 4) and this video isn't that inaccurate.

Moving on.

I've waited patiently through 4.0.1 and 4.0.2, looking for a fix that will make my phone work again. I've read the forums that advise me to jailbreak my phone or use some other method so I can downgrade back to a version of iPhone 3, however I'm not prepared to use a method that is not supported by Apple.

That was the very email sent by an iPhone 3G user frustrated about the terrible performance iOS 4 has bestowed upon those with the second-generation iPhone. Steve Jobs' supposed response:

Software update coming soon.

On top of that, an Apple spokesperson recently told WSJ that they are currently investigating the issue of slow performance on iPhone 3Gs running iOS 4. There is hope after all.
