Verizon Rolls Out an App Store of Its Own

Verizon is now rolling out on all of their Android devices  a separate tab in the Android Market called V Cast Apps which brings a bunch of Verizon services and applications to the app store as well as some other third-party apps. Many rumors have been swirling around stating that Verizon would soon make V Cast Apps a separate app store to compete with the Android Market and that it would be very similar to Apple's way of doing things in that it would have an approval process and other rules.

The clear difference here between iOS and Android is that Apple would never let the meddling of carriers on their device to fly. Google doesn't have a say in this since Android is free and open source. If there were to be two app stores on Android, it could definitely cause some confusion to the end user. Then again, competition drives innovation and innovation drives competition.

Verizon Android users, be on the look out for the new V Cast apps section in the Market.
