In a step forward since the launch of promoted tweets back in April, Twitter is now adding on account promotion. Companies and corporations will be able to pay money to get their Twitter account sponsored. How will the end-user see this? In the new "Suggestions for You" panel in the sidebar, if there's a certain promoted Twitter account that relates to accounts you follow, it will appear as a suggestion with the word "promoted" underneath. In addition, Twitter now hopes to expand Promoted Tweets and Trends beyond their main website at Twitter.com and into applications. HootSuite will be the first to implement this, and more are coming soon.

Promoted Accounts is currently under testing, but will eventually be rolled out to Twitter's full user base.
