When Exactly Will the Verizon iPhone Make Its Debut?
I've been getting a lot of questions about the Verizon iPhone lately. Specifically, I've been getting questions about when it will finally arrive. Well, assuming that you haven't been living in a box for the past few months, you probably know that all the rumors are targeting a release in January. So, let's just say for now that it's definitely coming in January. When exactly in January? That's where it gets a bit more complicated.
Apple likes to steal the spotlight from other major announcements or events going on. With a rumored release in January, it's the perfect time for Apple to take away all the excitement from CES, which takes place January 6-9. There's multiple scenarios as to how Apple would go about doing this.
First, Apple could announce the Verizon iPhone before CES. This would really pull the rug from right underneath the whole event. In fact, it's likely that all around CES people would be talking about the Verizon iPhone more than the announced gadgets. Plus, announcing the Verizon iPhone would give Verizon a chance to go into further detail about their plans at CES. There's only one con to announcing it before the event, and that is having to share the spotlight. Sure it would still be widely talked about, but don't forget there's still tons of gadgets at CES and they most definitely won't go unnoticed.
The next scenario is for Apple to announce the Verizon iPhone after CES. This would easily give Apple the spotlight for a very long time, seeing that there would be no events to take it. Although this scenario doesn't give Verizon time to discuss the plans during CES. It's not necessary for them to, but it would certainly make sense.
Now let's shift the topic. Rather than when, how exactly would Apple go about announcing the Verizon iPhone? Some are saying Verizon will announce it at their CES keynote. Others are saying Steve Jobs will make a guest appearance at that keynote and announce it himself. Most likely, Apple will hold their own keynote as always to share the big news. This keynote would probably be the same keynote that Steve would unveil the iPad 2, also slated for a release in January.
Ultimately, if you really want to know the full details on all these Apple rumors, you are just going to have to wait until Apple confirms it all. Sure with tons of rumors and leaks we can make hypotheses on this stuff, but it never quite matches up to the real news when it arrives. Let's just hope it arrives soon!
