iBooks Update Reveals 2048x1536 Screen Resolution for iPad 2
A recently released iBooks update for iPad has revealed some graphics that are double the size in pixels of the current ones, which suggests that Apple may be quadrupling the screen resolution of the iPad to 2048x1536 in the second-generation model. The current model has a 1024x768 resolution. This would be Apple's attempt to continue their roll-out of "retina" displays, originally started with the iPhone 4 which upped the resolution from 480x320 on previous generation models to 960x640. The same resolution was later added to the iPod touch in September.
There has been some skepticism about such a large amount of pixels on the second-generation iPad, because it would require plenty of additional RAM and processing power to handle the intense graphics. So it appears that iPad 2 will in fact be getting this extreme screen resolution after all. There's one thing for sure: it's going to be stunning.
