What is amazing about this entire event is that it all began through the power of social media. After nearly 30 years of the anger obviously building up in the minds of the Egyptians, they began creating groups on Facebook about three weeks ago to begin protesting the president which got hundreds of thousands of members. They then took to Twitter to further the complaints. Even after the government banned internet access, word still spread like a wildfire.
Egyptians vowed that they would not give up protesting until Mubarak stepped down, and 18 days later, he finally has. Street parties and celebrations are abundant in Egypt right now for what is a day that will go in history for years to come. And just think, it was made possible using less than 140 characters.
