Apple Addresses High Demand for iPad 2 in U.S.
In a press release today, Apple announced that the iPad 2 is available in 25 more countries today. These are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. In the same press release, Steve Jobs made a statement saying:
We’re experiencing amazing demand for iPad 2 in the US, and customers around the world have told us they can't wait to get their hands on it. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.
Apple is obviously aware of the high demand, since iPads bought online currently don't ship for 4-5 weeks after purchase and have rarely been seen in stores at all since the launch. Hopefully this acknowledgment means that we'll start to see wait times for the "magical" device to slowly get back to normal soon.
