Happy 5th Birthday Twitter! On March 21, 2006 the popular social network/microblogging service launched as "Twttr". A lot of people think because it was hip to drop the vowels of the word when naming almost anything on the internet, but the real reason it was named "Twttr" was to leave more space in text messages since back then the service was mainly focused on sending mobile status updates. Today Twitter is celebrating with the hashtag #5yrs.

As part of the celebration, Twitter has launched a new discovery website to find some of the top celebrities on Twitter, or just find users in a particular category of interests. You can even see who your favorite tweeters are following in the video I've embedded below.
