Twitter for iOS 3.3 #DickBar Gets Its New Name from Angry Users
As you may know, Twitter recently updated its popular app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to version 3.3. This brought a new compose window design, local trends, an easier way to find friends, and of course, the Quick Bar. The Quick Bar so pleasantly lets the user view trending topics via a black bar at the top of the app, effectively taking up valuable screen real estate on small devices such as the iPhone.
This has not been sitting well with Twitter users. Many have been reverting back to Twitter v3.2.2. Some have deleted the app all together. But almost all have been calling it the Dick-bar in reference of its annoying nature, as well as Twitter CEO Dick Costolo. The hashtag (#dickbar) quickly became a trending topic shortly after it was coined by John Gruber, of Daring Fireball. In a poll conducted by Mashable earlier today, so far over 80% of voters feel the Quick Bar should be eliminated from the app and find it intrusive. You can even get your own #dickbar to add to your website!
Twitter has not yet commented or released any public statement on all the backlash.
