Twitter has finally confirmed the statistics on Twitter usage by stating that the website has passed the 200 million registered accounts milestone. Last month, Twitter had around 175 million and was adding just under 500,000 new accounts every day.

We can't compare these numbers to Facebook because Facebook announces the number of active users while Twitter does not specify how many are active. Facebook actually has not announced the number of active users in a while, but they are likely to be somewhere around 700 million at this point. To disregard the numbers, both websites have been growing -- particularly Twitter -- at good paces.
