Apple Alleviates Location Tracking Concerns with iOS Update

Apple released iOS 4.3.3 today after being promised in a press release one week from today to address any concerns about Apple tracking your location. Of course, Apple denied this but did admit there was a bug in the software that was keeping your location information for longer than it should be. That's where this update comes in. It will:

- Reduces the size of the cache
- No longer backs the cache up to iTunes
- Deletes the cache entirely when Location Services is turned off

Notice that this update is not compatible with the iPhone 4 on Verizon, which means that the different carrier models are still on different branches of iOS. They will probably be combined in iOS 5.0, expected this summer.
