Google Music Launches: Your Music Library Finally in the Cloud
Today at Google I/O, the company officially launched Google Music into a private beta, but it's definitely looking pretty impressive. The service lets anyone (after requesting and receiving an invitation for now) upload their entire collection for storage on Google's cloud to be managed, edited, and completely synced across all of your devices -- laptop, tablet, smartphone.
Some notable features include the quick ability to automatically upload your entire iTunes library. Is this Google's attempt to make music uploading quick and convenient or another nasty plot to steal away Apple customers? You make the call. Any songs recently played on one of your Google Music devices can be replayed even if you are offline. Quite cool.
Finally, while not a feature, there is something else worth noting. Google Music will only be free for a limited time. This comes as a shock since almost everything Google currently offers is completely free, yet this music service will eventually have a price tag. This is almost certainly to pay for storage.
Apps for Google Music are available on Android and you can request an invitation or learn more about it at http://music.google.com.
