Available: HP Laptop with USB 3.0

USB 3.0 is finally taking over USB 2.0, the standard for all USB drives (or the more commonly used term, flash drive) for most of the decade. HP is the first computer manufacturer to ship their HP Envy 15 series with USB 3.0 technology.

So what's so great about "Superspeed" USB 3.0? It apparently is 10x faster in syncing files than USB 2.0 to quickly plug in the drive, sync, and take it right out. It also uses only one-third of the power that USB 2.0 used. Plus, it's backwards compatible with USB 2.0.

Seen in the picture to the right is a comparison of USB 2.0 (left) and USB 3.0 (right). USB 3.0 is slightly larger.

The technology will probably take a while to roll out to all computers, and by "a while", I assume over a year, even two. It will start out probably debuting in high end computers such as the HP Envy laptop series, and then eventually make its way across all computers.
