Twitter to Add Many New Features Soon

Twitter to Add Many New Features Soon

Last night, a Twitter engineer apparently couldn't hold in his excitement anymore, and tweeted some vague information on new features coming to Twitter.com, coming to the website, that may compete with some features desktop clients already have. It reads:

A developer then responded that he's not completely sure how to respond to such a tweet. Alex Payne, Twitter engineer, replied saying that they will release the APIs for all of these new features to be implemented.

It certainly makes you wonder what it coming to the website, twitter.com. Could it be a whole new set of features coming? Or could it just be what desktop and mobile clients already have that the website does not. Keep in mind that twitter.com certainly lacks a lot of features that other clients have. To name a few: multiple account support, an easier way to manage followers, more integration with geolocation, searching your own timeline... those are just a few.

Not to mention, the website user interface is getting a bit aged. With all these new features that Twitter is adding, such as Retweets and Lists, the small right sidebar is beginning to get cluttered and incapable of efficiently holding all those features. Maybe a redesign is on the way?

With Alex Payne's vague tweet, it's not yet completely sure what's coming. The only thing we know is that something is definitely coming.
