Apple Ends Support for Original iPhone

Apple has announced through a subtle email from Steve Jobs that the original iPhone will not be getting the iPhone OS 4.0 update due this summer, which probably also means the 3.1.x series will be the last update for the first-generation iPhone, now three years old.

Apple already said that the iPhone 3G and second-generation iPod Touch would receive "many things, but not everything" from OS 4.0. Multitasking were among the features both devices would not receive.

This could possibly be a part of Apple's plans to finally get users to upgrade to their more advanced iPhones that were released, such as the third-generation iPhone, the iPhone 3GS. Either way, the first iPhone was beginning to get outdated and had to go at one point. Check out the photo of the email below.
