Facebook Cancels Support for Facebook Lite

Facebook today announced that it would no longer supporting Facebook Lite. Facebook Lite was a service available at lite.facebook.com for free that stripped down the regular Facebook experience to just your friends, your profile, and your content. There was no applications, and minimal functionality was key. It was also meant for people with slower internet connections or an inability to access the regular Facebook.

All Facebook has said about the matter was a small quote through a status update earlier today that reads:

Thanks to everyone who tried out Facebook Lite. We're no longer supporting it, but learned a lot from the test of a slimmed-down site. If you used Lite, you'll now be taken to the main Facebook.com site.

I think they did this as it enabled bypassing the forced privacy settings update. Logging into the lite version didn't prompt for that.

facebook users who are missing facebook Lite, or just want a slimmed down fb experience, devoid of all the junk the site spews out, should check out this cool browser app i found called Fluff Busting Purity, it strips out all silly/annoying application messages, and also gives you a choice of which types of messages you see on your facebook homepage, it works really well, get the script here: http://www.fbpurity.com
