The Time Has Come for the Twitter OAuthcalypse

Twitter has launched a nine-week countdown that they are calling the "OAuthcalypse". This is when they will shut off support for developers using basic authorization. There are apps that require you to manually type in your username and password and send it to the third party to get you to integrate with Twitter, and then there are apps that use OAuth, which goes to Twitter directly, gets the permissions needed, and redirects you back to the app.

Twitter is using their @twitterapi account to help out developers in any way they can. Developers have nine weeks (hence the countdown) to get rid of basic authorization in their app and switch to OAuth before the lights go out on it. I for one am also happy that OAuth is being made manditory. It gives a more peace of mind about your credentials.
