Asus Announces Windows-Based Eee Pad, Tablet
At Computex 2010, Asus took the time to announce three new products. Two of those go under the title of the Eee Pad. The EP121 (left) has a 12" touch display, webcam, USB, and ten hour battery life. It has a consumer ultra-low voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processor and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. For a bit more portability, the EP101TC (middle) has a 10" touch display, webcam, USB, and Windows Embedded Compact 7. Both are expected to have WiFi and there's no word yet on 3G connectivity.
As for the Eee Tablet (right), it has a slightly different design and purpose. It has an Apple-hated stylus, and a pretty fantastic display that makes text as crisp as paper, according to Asus. It has a 2MP camera, WiFi, USB, that same ten hour battery as the Eee Pad, and a microSD card slot. It doesn't appear to run Windows.
The Eee Pad is expected to be priced between $400 and $500 with the Eee Tablet expected at around $200 to $300. Both seem like fairly reasonable pricing, although the Eee Tablet at $300 might be a little steep. Asus says they plan to ship these in Q1 2011.
