HP to Release webOS Based Tablet Device

HP to Release webOS Based Tablet Device

After acquiring Palm, HP is looking to really get its hands on Palm's significantly successful webOS mobile operating system. Though not as successful as Android, especially in terms of apps, Palm released the Pre last year as the first device to feature webOS and was praised with positive reviews. Now that HP has webOS right where they want it, the newest rumor is HP will be releasing a tablet device in Q3 based on this mobile OS.

HP already has a highly anticipated HP Slate tablet device based on the full fledged Windows 7 desktop operating system. It looks like a tablet based on webOS will be a bit more lightweight. It currently has a codename of "Hurricane". Bare in mind that HP still has not completely finalized the acquisition of Palm, and third quarter seems pretty daring for a new device such as this, so for now we'll call it a fairly plausible rumor. Just maybe with a later release date.
