Samsung Epic 4G to Grace Sprint with Second 4G Phone

Sprint will be getting its second 4G phone in a few months named the Epic 4G. This is presumably Samsung's attempt to knock out the HTC EVO 4G. The Epic 4G will feature a Super AMOLED touch screen display, 5MP LED flash camera with 720p HD video recording, a front-facing camera (VGA) that will have video calling capabilities probably through apps like Qik, Wireless-N capable WiFi, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and a six-axis accelerometer. It will run Android 2.1 with Samsung's small added features here and there like their "Social Hub" as well as a focus on entertainment. You can bet that this will be a very fast phone, though lack of Android "Froyo" is disappointing.

However, the device does have something that the HTC EVO 4G lacks (besides the "super" AMOLED) and that's a physical QWERTY keyboard that slides out horizontally from underneath the display. Remarkably though, the Epic 4G's depth is nearly the same as the EVO 4G, only a hair thicker. Sprint now has a website up to sign up for email updates on the phone, accessible here, but as always Bitts will keep you in the know if anything else is announced.
