Facebook to Launch Location Features Tomorrow?
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, confirmed not too long ago that Facebook would eventually launch location sharing features. Tomorrow may be that shining moment. Top technology and social media websites such as Mashable are receiving invites for an event being held tomorrow at Facebook HQ. The invitations vaguely state it's for "an update on the service's features and products".
All Things Digital is reporting this event will most definitely be about location.
That’s because a multitude of sources indicate that Facebook will finally be rolling out its own geo-location offering, and the date now looks set for the day after tomorrow. In fact, BoomTown was just ginning up a post on the likelihood Facebook would be unveiling a check-in service this week when an invite to a “news event” at the social networking powerhouse’s HQ in Silicon Valley dropped into my email box.Kara Swisher also goes on to state that developers will most likely get access to these geo-location features for implementation in third-party Facebook applications. Stay tuned for more tomorrow, August 18th, when the event takes place.
