This is the beginnings of Diaspora. Diaspora was formed on Kickstarter to be funded as a new social network when Facebook was having some big problems over privacy concerns. Today on their blog, they have posted quite a few screenshots of Diaspora with some brief details. The folks behind the project will also be releasing the source code today for developers to contribute and make this really blossom. There's a lot of work to do before this really becomes a full-fledged Facebook competitor.
