Android Market Reaches 100,000 Apps -- This Gets Interesting...
Today Google briefly tweeted that Android has officially reached 100,000 apps in the Android Market. This news comes just a week or so after Apple announced 300,000 apps in the iOS app store.
Here's where it gets interesting. The last stat we reported about the Android Market was back on April 24th when it reached 50,000 apps. In that same week on April 29th, Apple announced it reached the 200,000 app mark. Since these were both six months ago, this means that Android has doubled the amount of apps in the Market in the past six months with an increase of 50,000 apps. Apple, on the other hand increased the number of apps in the app store by 33% person in the last six months, which is a smaller percentage than Android, but overall includes double the amount of apps at 100,000.
It appears that any rumors stating that the Android Market is growing at a faster rate than the iOS app store can be put to rest.
