Internet Explorer Market Share Drops Below 50% for First Time

According to StatCounter, Internet Explorer as a whole has dropped under 50% market share worldwide for the first time in history. As you can see in the graph above, there is clearly a huge descent from just two years ago when IE market share was just slightly under 70% worldwide. On the other hand, Google Chrome usage continues to rise with no decline in sight. With the release of IE9 beta, Microsoft is hoping to get right back into the game to keep up with the ever-growing features and technologies that are being added to browsers. IE9 is looking like Microsoft's last hope.
