Acer Unveils Android Tablets, Dual-Screen Laptop, and Ridiculously Large Smartphone

Acer has been quiet for quite sometime, but they are back with some pretty big announcements. Acer will release two Android tablets in April 2011. The first tablet will be 7-inches while the second will be 10.1-inches. Both will feature a pretty generous 1280x800 screen resolution (especially on the 7-inch) and 1080p HDMI support. plus WiFi and 3G. The 10.1-inch tablet will also have a camera on the front and back.

Acer also announced a dual-screen Windows 7 Home Premium laptop dubbed ICONIA. It will feature two 14-inch touchscreen displays on the top and bottom.

I think the biggest news here is not the tablets or laptop, but their newly announced 4.8-inch smartphone. I think we all thought the 4.3-inch HTC Evo was pushing the barriers for a smartphone, but Acer pretty obviously disagrees. It will have an unusual 21:9 aspect ratio and an astounding 1024x480 resolution display. The back will have an 8MP camera with LED flash. Inside will have a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, accelerometer, and gyroscope.

None of these devices have names yet but all have a planned release of April 2011. Since Android 2.3 Gingerbread is expected to be released by then, keep your fingers crossed that all of these devices will be loaded up with the latest software version.
