Apple reached a huge milestone yesterday. The ten billionth download was made on the iOS app store. Apple began a countdown for this goal about a week ago with a contest that would give away a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the lucky person that made that ten billionth download. The winner has not yet been announced.

The app store debuted in July 2008 with just 500 apps available. About two and a half years later, today the store is the home of more than 350,000 apps available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
