AT&T Announces Upcoming 4G Rollout and Smartphones #CES
AT&T's a little late in the game, but they are already bragging about 4G speeds coming soon to AT&T that will make the network up to four times faster than its current HSPA 3G. AT&T says they will be the only network to embrace both HSPA+ (3.5G if you will) and LTE. Also, as you can see above, AT&T plans on expanding their current network as well. Everything in the darker blue is already covered and the lighter blue is a planned rollout. 4G coverage is not depicted in this map however, which may not exactly be a good thing.
The huge news about AT&T's rollout is that they already have three sleek smartphones planned for 2011 with built in 4G. The first is the HTC Inspire 4G running Android 2.2 and has a 4.3" super AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, and an 8MP camera with 720p HD video recording. The next is the Samsung Infuse 4G with a whopping 4.5" super AMOLED display, 1080p HD video recording, and of course Android as well. My favorite out of all of these though is the Motorola Atrix 4G. This bad boy has a NVIDIA Tegra dual-core mobile processor built in, 1GB of RAM, Android, and up to 48GB of memory. This is no ordinary smartphone.
