The Daily iPad publication has quietly extended its free trial all the way to February 28th when it was originally supposed to end tomorrow, the 15th. The subscription would then have cost $0.99 per week or $39.99 per year. These costs are being pushed back an additional two weeks.

I had predicted that because of this, Apple would have to hold an event to announce APIs for in-app subscription since that is what The Daily will use, yet it still remains somewhat of a secret by Apple. It's clear now that Apple will have two more weeks to roll out any additional iOS 4.3 betas, send out invites, and hold an event to detail iOS 4.3. And hey, why not announce iPad 2 at that same event?

Now it really all adds up.
