HP Unveils Pre 3 and Veer Smartphones

In addition to what was probably the star of the show today, HP also introduced the Pre 3 third-generation Palm Pre and the new Veer smartphone.

The Pre 3 (actually being called the HP Pre 3 instead of being branded by Palm) includes just about everything you want in a smartphone, with the exception of a decent app store. There's video calling, the sleek webOS operating system, multitasking, 5MP camera, 512 MB of RAM, and hey -- there's even a 1.4GHz processor on board. Now that's fast. Unfortunately, that infamous keyboard still remains.

The Veer smartphone, on the other hand, takes a more shitty unique approach. The entire thing is only 3.25" tall, making the screen incredibly small at just 2.6 inches diagonally. That means you can get almost nothing done in a a brief amount of time. The good news is all the apps will work on the phone and it will probably sell for a lot cheaper than the Pre 3. So if you are in the market for a budget smartphone, this may be your winner.

Pricing and availability have yet to be announced. The only vague information on availability is that both will be out this summer.
