Google is at it again. In a move that will probably spark controversy, Gmail is rolling out a message to all of its users about "Better ads in Gmail." The ads aim to be much more relevant to you and your interests, instead of being pesky and annoying when irrelevant. How will it work? Well the ad system will snoop around your inbox to see the sender of an email, if you chose to read that email, and -- my personal favorite -- keywords in that email. The technology will be similar to the Priority Inbox feature in Gmail.
For some peace of mind, Google offers a bit of assurance on the
help page.
As always, ads in Gmail are fully automated-no humans read your messages- and no messages or personally identifiable information about you is shared with advertisers.
Don't be evil, Google.
