iOS 5 Release Pushed Back to This Fall?

iOS 5 Release Pushed Back to This Fall?

Well, there's some good news and bad news tonight. The bad news is TechCrunch is reporting that according to multiple sources, the announcement and release of iOS 5.0 will be pushed back until fall this year. This would effectively throw the annual unveiling of the next major version of iOS completely out of whack. TechCrunch is still sticking to that rumor of an iPad 3 in the fall along with iOS 5, but an iPad 3 just doesn't make sense anymore.

The good news is iOS 5 will very likely be a huge revamp of the operating system. This means more cloud integration (free MobileMe?), a new notifications system, and more. According to TC, iOS 5 will be previewed at WWDC this year and released a few months later. Normally, new versions of iOS are announced March or April. Last year the event was held on April 8th, so if it's going to be around that date this year, we should expect invitations to go out soon.
