Original iPad Suffers from Same Backlight Bleeding Issues as iPad 2?
If you haven't heard, many customers of the iPad 2 are complaining that when the display is dark for whatever reason -- dark movies, dark web pages, etc. -- backlight bleeding issues are visible around the sides of the display. It's been proven in a number of YouTube videos, with some iPad 2s having a much more prominent bleeding issue than others.
However, Insanely Great Mac has decided to post a video comparing the iPad 2 to the original iPad. Sure enough, they found that the original iPad suffers from the same type of backlight bleeding problems as the iPad 2. Mike Flaminio of IGM suggests that the problem might be due to the IPS display on both, as he's seen the same thing on his iMac which also features IPS technology. The video demo is embedded below.
One solution is to simply turn down the brightness on your iPad display. Then again, we might all just be looking at it wrong.
