Problems Emerge with iPad 2

Apple had a very successful product launch with the iPad 2 yesterday in terms of media coverage and units sold. There were long lines all around the country outside of Apple stores in anticipation for the shiny new device. Unfortunately, the iPad 2 is already on backorder and the website already shows that each model will ship in 3-4 weeks. It seems that Apple simply cannot keep up with high demand.

That's just the beginning of the issues. Engadget reported this morning that many users are experiencing backlight bleeding through the display. You can see an example in the image above, mainly noticeable on dark images or websites. A video posted by a user further explains the issue. Some think it's just an issue with the iPad being fresh out of the factory, similar to the way pre-ordered iPhone 4s had yellow spots on the display that eventually went away. Others speculate it may be more serious.

iFixit also discovered that the iPad 2's LCD glass is 27% thinner than the original iPad's glass. Obviously there's no problems yet, but this could likely make the iPad 2's screen more fragile.
