As previously announced, Samsung plans on releasing an updated version of their Galaxy Tab tablet by the name of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, featuring a 10.1-inch display (who knew?). However, a new model was announced tonight at CTIA Wireless 2011. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be very similar, though it will be smaller and feature a smaller 8.9-inch display. Both will have a 1280x800 resolution display, 1GHz dual-core CPU, rear-facing 3MP camera, and front 2MP camera. They will run Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

Perhaps the most exciting feature of these new tablets is the pricing. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is the first competitive tablet so far to be priced lower than the 16GB WiFi iPad. The 16GB WiFi Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be priced at just $469 and a 32GB version will be available for $569. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 matches iPad's pricing at $499 and $599 respectively.

Both will be available early this summer.
