Apple Responds to Location Concerns in iPhone, iPad

Apple posted a public statement answering some of the recently asked questions about location. Last week, a file was discovered on the iPhone and iPad that stores everywhere you take the device and can show a long history of where you've been. Apple clearly hoped to alleviate the concerns over this with the statement.

First and foremost, The company clarifies that "Apple is not tracking the location of your iPhone. Apple has never done so and has no plans to ever do so." It then goes into much further detail in the form of s Q&A which you can read here. Finally, Apple will be releasing an iOS update within the next few weeks that will encrypt the file to add security and will get rid of the bug that keeps historical data.

Google also stores location data in a cache and Apple would not comment on why they choose to do so. Google's on their own for this one.
