Sony PlayStation Network Attack Compromises Users' Personal Info
Sony announced that they are really on top of things today with the PlayStation Network. It was hacked by an unknown source for an unknown reason nine days ago. It took Sony three days to realize it was hacked and then temporarily shut down the PlayStation Network and it remains shut down today. And just today (I repeat, nine days after the network was hacked), Sony realized that some users' personal information was compromised.
Sony is sending around emails to all users stating the issues. Not all, but a good handful of usernames, passwords, email addresses, names, phone numbers, and addresses were stolen for sure. It's also possible that purchase history and billing addresses were stolen. Sony says they are almost positive that no credit card information was exposed. The company has hired security experts to look into the matter and prevent this from ever happening again. Meanwhile, if you have an account you should probably change your password.
