Well, there it is. Look familiar? Yeah, that's a leaked screenshot of a Windows App Store. Microsoft is said to be working on such a thing to be bundled with the release of Windows 8, due out sometime toward the end of next year. No one in Redmond has confirmed this and they probably won't until they're ready too, but it seems like the next logical step. Apple and Google both have their own app stores for the web/desktop, so Microsoft needs to play catch up. The screenshot looks mighty familiar to Apple's Mac App Store though. If I had to make a guess, I'd guess that there would be no approval process in a Windows App Store, but at the same time I don't believe Microsoft would be as lenient as Google.
If this is legitimate, development is definitely in the early stages. Everything about the UI screams alpha or even pre-alpha. And hey, is anyone up for upgrading your OS via an app store?
