Sprint (Along with Verizon) Drops Nexus One
Well, it appears safe to say that Google's Nexus One smartphone was a complete failure. While it may have been a good device, heavy competition and poor marketing seems to have nearly set it to its grave. Since Google realized on basically just online ads and word of mouth to get the Nexus One going, it seemed to have failed. Not to mention, the ads were pretty much a photo of the device and one or two words describing one or two features in it such as 800x480 which your average internet user probably doesn't understand its representation of pixel resolution, nor do they care.
Sprint announced that they will not be carrying the Google Nexus One phone, and have put their money on the HTC Evo 4G, one of the first -- if not first 4G phone on the market. Nexus One was also originally supposed to come to Verizon this summer, but that deal was a no-go as well since Verizon is putting their money on the new, better-than-Nexus-One, HTC Droid Incredible phone. Cheesy name, superb phone.
Plus after awful sales posted for the Nexus One after release, it seems that there really isn't much of a reason for the carriers to actually want the Nexus One sold through them. Unless Google builds a better phone and markets it better... a lot better, the Nexus One isn't shining so bright anymore.
