Chatroulette v2 Goes Live With Little to Brag About

Remember that post last week saying a new version of Chatroulette was coming the next day? As you can see, there was clearly a delay. Chatroulette.com originally said it would arrive the next day, then it was changed to "shortly". That apparently means eight days later. Nonetheless, it's here now, and it's not exactly what you'd expect out of an entirely new version.

I thought maybe there would be some sort of technology to filter out nudity, but nope. As Mashable quotes:

As far as content goes, well, suffice to say that it took four full minutes of refreshing to get a screenshot without a penis in it. Yes, some things never change.

There isn't really much to say about this new design. It's very straightforward. The video has now been moved to the top and the chat to the bottom, with a small thumbnail of your own video. The focus is on the person on the other end. I think people are certainly going to have a problem with visiting chatroulette.com for the first time and finding that the video automatically turns on.

Sorry to say folks, but Chatroulette is still Chatroulette -- you either love it, hate it, or are disgusted by it.
