The picture above is one of many leaked cases that all have a small, square design. Recently, Emmaleigh posted about the possibility of the new iPod nano slated for a September 1st release having a small 1.7 inch touchscreen display. These cases add to that speculation tremendously.

Could a nano this small really be useful? After all, the iPod nano and the iPod classic are the only two iPods that currently remain with Apple's own click wheel invention. A 1.7" touchscreen would completely strip away a click wheel on the nano, making the iPod classic the only one still left with it.

An even bigger question; could a touchscreen this small really be useful? 1.7 inches isn't a whole lot of room for your finger to move around. It would also mean that the software of the iPod nano would have to get an entirely new user interface to accommodate the girth of a finger.

These questions can only be answered on Wednesday.
