MySpace Redesigns the User Home Page

MySpace Redesigns the User Home Page

MySpace users, prepare for a nice and streamlined home page redesign coming your way. Some users will be getting a sneak peak today, but for others this new redesign is rolling out August 16th. Everything has been completely simplified. The stream allows you to view all content from your friends as well as share a status, photos, videos, or a link to friends. Below that is your Friend Space and the ability to find new friends.

The sidebar also has some nice changes as well. You'll see Requests, Messages, and Notifications at the very top followed by Recommendations for apps, events, and friends. Below that is upcoming Birthdays and below that is a new "My Stuff" section for quick access to your personal photos, music, events, etc. without having to visit your own profile and go searching for them. Very nice.

Overall the changes are very welcome, as MySpace's interface was once very cluttered and disorganized. At one point it seemed like MySpace was trying to copy a number of Facebook's features, but with this redesign it appears that MySpace is taking their own approach to having a clean look and I applaud them.
