Verizon Finally Confirms the Motorola Droid 2

After this and this and yes, this, Verizon has finally confirmed the Motorola Droid 2. It will be the first phone to ship with Android 2.2 Froyo preloaded. It will also have 8GB of onboard memory upgradeable to 32GB, a 5 megapixel camera, and the same 3.7" display. Presumably, that's going to be at the Android standard of 800x480. Verizon also says that it has an improved keyboard from the previous Droid with raised keys and a symmetrical design.
It will also feature 3G mobile hotspot capabilities with the ability for 5 other devices to connect, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, and access to the Android Market -- over 70,000 apps, which is a not-so-juicy stat seeing that recent reports had the number of apps in the Android Market estimated around 100,000.
Oh, and for all you Star Wars fans, there will be a special edition R2 D2 Motorola Droid 2 with a different hardware design and related software content preloaded onto the phone.
The Motorola Droid 2 will be available online at verizonwireless.com tomorrow, August 11, and in stores August 12th for $199.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.
