Steve Jobs: No 7-inch iPads. Ever.

In an effort to offer a bit of insight on Apple's competitors, Steve Jobs made an appearance at Apple's Q4 revenue conference call. One of the shining moments was when he began to talk about recent competitors of the iPad such as Samsung's Galaxy Tab and RIM's Blackberry Playbook. He explains that a 7" screen on a tablet is simply ridiculous. He believes that developers will have a hard time developing and resizing apps to fit a smaller screen. Even if you put in the same resolution as the iPad (1024x768) for a higher pixel density overall, that means the device would also have to "include sandpaper" so the user can sand down their fingers to accurately tap and manipulate content on the screen. Steve even went as far as to say that ten inches should be the minimum for a tablet.

That comment could very well hint at not a smaller iPad, but in fact a larger model on its way. We'll have to wait for feedback on the latest 7" tablets to see if Apple is really correct about proper tablet size.
