Rumored for a while, it finally seems to be picking up some steam. Apple appears to have sent out an email to music labels basically informing them that free song previews will be increasing to 90 seconds, which is triple the current offering of only 30 seconds. It reads:

The news was originally supposed to be announced at Apple's music event in September, but according to CNET, it was apparently delayed due to licensing issues.
