YouTube Now Lets You Skip Ads

YouTube is launching a new ad format called TrueView that will actually let users skip over ads in a way that benefits both the viewer and the advertiser. When you go to watch a video and an ad appears, after five seconds you'll be able to then click Skip and get straight to the video. It's about time this is finally here because viewing ad after ad after ad gets pretty annoying pretty quickly.
The good thing about this format though is that advertisers are also pretty pleased. You see, they only pay for the ad if the user decides to watch it, rather than skip it. If the user decides to watch it, it's pretty likely they are interested in it. If it's pretty likely they are interested in it, it's pretty likely they are going to invest in it. You can see where this is going.
TrueView will also allow the viewer to choose between three different ads that best peaks their interest. So while the new format is packed with beneficial features, unfortunately not all videos will have it. Advertisers will ultimately decide which format they prefer to use when displaying ads.
